The First Day of School

August 21st was the first day of school this year.

My junior-high kids found it a little hard to wake up early, but they made it!

Our eighth-grader was excited for several of his classes this year.  He is taking Guitar I and can't wait to learn how to play his new guitar.  He is also excited for his journalism class and his Spanish class because he likes the teachers.  He is also competing on the cross-country team.

Our ninth-grader is ready for his last year in junior high before he heads to high school next year.  He is getting ready for high school by taking all honors classes.  He knows this year will be tough, but he feels confident that he is ready because he knows how to work hard.  He is excited to start seminary this year and really likes his teacher.  He will be taking Guitar II second term.

Our elementary kids were up and ready to go long before the bell rang!

Our first-grader was a little worried about going to school all day long.  He was worried that he wouldn't have any time to play.  However, as the days have passed he has found that he still has lots of time to play!  He has enjoyed eating lunch at school and seems to be doing well in class.

Our third-grader is enjoying third grade, especially learning how to write cursive.  We changed what class he was in on the first day of school and he is doing really well with his new teacher.  We hope that this year will be a good year for him and that he will learn a lot.

Our fifth-grader wanted school to start so she could wear all of her new clothes!!  She is concerned with fashion, friends, and hair-dos.  But she is also a good student.  She really likes her teacher this year and especially enjoys lunch recess where she plays soccer, basketball, and football with her friends.
