Day one began with the English Match, which is a six-target prone match.
This match is typically shot first thing in the morning to avoid the Cedar City wind which typically picks up around noon.
The rest of us kept busy...shooting the breeze,
helping score targets,
and the younger kids went lizard hunting.
The second match of the day was the Hunter Rifle match. In this match precision gear is not allowed.
The shooters first shoot prone,
then sitting,
and standing.
During the Hunter Rifle match we had a surprise visit from our Cedar City cousins. It was fun to see them and play with them for awhile!
The third match of the day was the air rifle match. Held indoors, it was just a 20 minute drive from the outdoor range.
Our oldest was hoping to defend his first-place finish from last year.
The air rifle match is held near the fairgrounds and the younger kids always have fun playing at the nearby rodeo stands!
The final match of the day was the Air Rifle Olympic Style Shoot-off.
Our second oldest shot very well in the overall and found himself in his first-ever shoot-off!
It was a long day, but a lot of fun! Here's a link to the results: Summer Games results
