A long, long time ago....
were this old, we had a family Olympics. It was a hit!! It has been relived, reminisced about, and longed for.... and finally this July, the Olympics returned!
who haven't yet experienced the emotions of Family Olympics.
It was the older ones' duty to take the younger cousins and show them the way...
the older boys taught the young ones the art of flexing...
they're still learning!
This Family Olympics business is serious stuff! The crowd really gets into it and even reserves seating!
Finally he Opening Ceremonies began with the Olympic Anthem and the parade of athletes...
The first event was a backyard footrace
and they're off!
There were some tight finishes...
Heat two was a tough bunch!
The next event was for the little ones: Grandpa built a balance beam!
We saw feats of balance...
and skill...
The audience was mesmerized!
The next event was the high jump.
Some were graceful,
and others were going for style points!
Next was the long jump:
Some of the long-legged ones really had an advantage,
but everyone gave it their all.
There were some very proud parents!!!
The final event was the shot put...which was cut short by a lack of safe areas to throw a big rock...but was still quite fun.
Finally, the judges tallied up all the scores and winners were announced:
The awards were coveted by all...
and real gold!
The special awards were custom designed!
These two won some Jedi awards.
Yay for our awesome athletes!
Grandpa was a great spectator!
After the awards we played some games...limbo was first.
The older cousins really got into this one...
The older cousins really got into this one...
and surprisingly our 6 ft 7 inch cousin was in the final two.
