Between my husband and I, we have gobs of potential musically-talented genes. That's not to say that we, ourselves, have a whole lot of talent, but our children have the potential to be musically inclined. I have watched them since they were quite young, and so far, our second oldest appears to have the most naturally occurring musical ability.
Now, this isn't to say that with some work all the others have just as much potential, this is simply to say without any work, he is talented. We decided early on that we weren't going to push any of our kids into music, but if they showed an interest, we would strongly support them. I wasn't surprised last summer when he chose choir as one of his electives for Junior High. We were able to attend his first concert of the year last month and I really enjoyed watching him and remembering the joy of music! Our oldest son signed up for a guitar class for one of his electives and will be starting in January. We also have a surprise for some of our other kids who have expressed a desire to get involved...more to come about that later.
Hurrah!!!
